Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about cabinets, carpentry, built-ins, bathrooms, decks, sunrooms, floors and estimates.
Can you build cabinets to match the ones I already have?
Often, yes. We build cabinet boxes, face frames, doors and trim to work alongside existing cabinets. How close the match can be depends on the existing materials, sizes, finish and condition, and we’ll tell you up front what’s realistic.
Can you replace just the damaged cabinets?
Often you can. We’ve replaced single sink bases, cabinet boxes, angled corner units, island supports and dishwasher panels while keeping the cabinets that were still in good shape. What can be saved depends on the damage.
Do you work on closets and interior doors?
Yes. We frame and drywall closets, hang interior doors with their hinges, stops and hardware, and finish everything with casing and trim.
What does “architectural millwork” mean?
It’s woodwork that’s built into a room rather than bought for it: built-in shelving, mantels, fireplace and accent walls, pantry cabinets, closets, doors and trim, all designed around the space and the way you use it.
Can you build a built-in around an existing wall or base?
Yes. Built-ins are measured on site and built to fit, including shelving set on an existing base or fitted between walls that aren’t perfectly square. Every space is a little different, so we look at the dimensions and access first.
Do you remodel bathrooms and build tile showers?
Yes. We build walk-in tile showers with niches and tiled tub surrounds, install glass shower doors and panels, and finish the room with vanities, flooring, trim and paint. We’ll let you know which plumbing and electrical work is part of our scope for your project.
Do you build decks and install pergolas?
Yes. We build custom decks, from ground-level to multi-level with stairs, and install pre-manufactured pergolas on new or existing decks. We’ll go over materials and any permits at the start.
Do you build sunrooms?
Yes, from concept to completion. We can convert an existing porch or deck into a sunroom or build a new one from the foundation up, then finish it inside with trim, paint and flooring. We’ll go over permits and any other trades involved up front.
Do you handle water damage from start to finish?
Yes. We work with your insurance company, pack and store your belongings, handle demolition, remediation and drying, and rebuild everything from the floors and cabinets to the trim and paint. You deal with one company for the whole job.
Will you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We work directly with your insurance company on the scope of the repairs, so you aren’t left translating between the adjuster and the contractor. What gets repaired or replaced still depends on what your policy covers.
Do you refinish hardwood floors?
Yes. We sand, stain and refinish hardwood, and replace damaged boards where needed. The right approach depends on the floor’s condition and how much of it is affected.
Can you handle several parts of one renovation?
Yes. Most projects span several kinds of work, like cabinets with flooring, trim, countertops, fixtures and paint, so we plan them as one job and do the work in the right order. If part of the job needs another trade, we’ll tell you up front.
Do you provide written estimates?
Yes. Your estimate is written out with the materials, quantities, labor and finish work for the project, so you can see what’s included before anything starts.
